Outkast Album Reviews

Outkast 'Speakerboxxx / The Love Below' Review

How you feel about this double-solo-album project from André Benjamin and Antwan Patton will have a lot to do with how you feel about messes. Some people like a nice tidy world, with everything in its place, all the tools hung up in the right place, never miss the flashlight when the power goes out, etc. Those people should just start running from The Love Below/Speakerboxxx now, and never ever look back.
Because yeah, this is a mess, 39 tracks (sorry, traxxx) and almost 146 minutes of music, hugely self-indulgent and strange continue...

Outkast 'Stankonia' Review

"Stankonia" is the fourth release by Atlanta hip hop duo Outkast. This album would, at no question, have to be among the most creative hip hop albums of the year. The duo of Big Boi and Dre continue with their prowess of experimenting with different sounds and genre of musical overtones.
The album is a mixture of psychedelic funk and a rapture of bass and guitar grinding tunes. "Stankonia" brings you into a world of complexity and an abstract society. The 17-track tale truly reminds you of the unlimited approach that the Dirty South has continue...

The Atlanta, GA duo of Andre and Big Boi return for their third LP entitled Aquemini (A-kwem-in-eye). For most artists, the third attempt is usually a flop, but it's the best yet from these Dirty South playas, which says a lot considering the success of their first two albums. Personally, I didn't think they could top ATLiens, but when Aquemini started bumpin' through my speakers, I knew how wrong I was...
The opening song, "Return of the 'G'." gets things started. It has a laid back feel to it, but lyrically carries some strong continue...

Outkast 'ATLiens' Review
The title of OutKast's second album suggests that the Atlanta based rap duo is spaced out on a P-Funk-style otherworldly trip. But ATLiens, like its platinum predecessor, Southernplayalisti-cadillacmuzik, is a gritty document of what's happening here and now, an up-to-the-minute briefing on Southern black ghetto life on which OutKast members Andre and Big Boi cast their feelings of alienation in familiar, realistic characterizations: jealous homeboys at the mall, conniving women, evil record-industry execs and those high-minded folks who view the successful continue...
